wow. I missed this, too. thanks for the link.
How can 3 months go by without anyone publically posting about this??
would be nice to see some photos of them training, hanging out, and being together....those would be some cool memories for running fans
That is truly great as Paula inspired so many female runners to shot for new limits. It would have a once in a lifetime experience if Paula had invited Kara when Paula was in her 2:15 marathon form. Seriously don't know how much Kara could benefit from training with Paula now!
Meanwhile Paula's a couple of months pregnant...
Are you serious? Just because Paula isn't running 2:15s anymore you don't think she can teach Kara anything about racing and winning marathons? Um, wow.
I'm not saying training with Paula won't do any good; however, it's not like training with her now is going to raise Kara to Paula's 2:15 days. I'm sure Paula's not brining out her training log when she was in 2:15 shape and how much more can she teach Kara than Kara's coaches?
Yes training with Paula will surely be a thrill and great for Kara's confidence but it's not gonna have her running 2:17 especially when Paula herself cannot anymore! I love Paula and would love to see her medal in 2012 Olympics but we won't be seeing a future 2:17 marathon (course legal) out of Paula or Kara.

Yes but I seriously doubt that Kara is the father.
But it may inspire her to new heights and that can never be a bad thing.

You do raise a valid point. Though I've never been pregnant and don't really have the necessary equipment for it, I'm just thinking that while Paula was training with Kara, she might not have been quite 100% with an extra someone that she's taking along for the ride.
And yet, you know nothing, if you can run a 2:01 marathon but can win with a 2:10, I highly doubt you're going to run a 2:05.
Paula has the record and will have the record for a very long time, there is no reason for her to go after it more.

VIPAM, my friend, I'll let you in on a couple of secrets. First, nothing short of PEDs will have Kara running 2:17s. I say this as a fan and supporter of Mrs. Goucher. Second, had Kara been training with Paula when Paula was in 2:15 shape, Kara would have been racing in every workout (and probably every run, given how fast Paula ran everything) and she would have injured herself within a matter of weeks.
Carry on.
oO
That is the most ridiculous thing I heard in awhile- if you have the record..."there is no reason for her to go after it more". Tell that to Haile Gebrselassie current marathon WR holder, Paul Tergat, Telga Lourope, Khalid Khannouchi, Catherine Ndereba all other previous marathon WR holders who constantly tired to improve on their world record/personal best times.
The World Record for the person who holds it is nothing more than a personal best for them in which every athlete would love to improve until they retire. So to say Paula isn't shooting for her marathon World Record IF she THOUGHT she was capable is laugable!!!
What about all of the 1-time world record holders that disappeared from the scene? I agree with what you are saying, but you didn't address the one-hit wonders. I think that sometimes people just lose interest and move on to other things. Life happens. Running isn't everything. Even if they are one of the best in the world.
I guess it's official: Paula is update

Because internet posters don't really know what's going on with any of Salazar's runners?
