My god that is fast! Calvin Smith 44.5 anchor split unofficially.

What was their best time indoors?
Henry Thomas ran same 44.5 anchor when Hawthorne set scholastic record - call me back when he runs 43.3 anchor - he is collegian!
I wouldn't be surprised if Smith didn't have the fastest split on the team.
Christian Taylor ran a nice 45.5 open 400 yesterday.
Anyway, very nice running all around.
I wonder how close they came to the University record?
RJ Anderson- 46.6
Tony McQuay- 43.7 <<<<--- :O :O FRESHMAN
Christian Taylor- 45.3
Calvin Smith- 44.7
these were my splits, live.
Good point. 3:00.31 isn't that fast this time of the season.
Call me when Henry Thomas got faster.
Fastest time in the world by about 5 seconds. Yeah, it's not very fast.
Actually 3 flat any time is pretty damn fast, especially now in April in not even mid college seasons.
Henry Thomas probably never ran faster than that.

People often get those early splits wrong because the exchange point is hard to get right since the event still has a 3m/lane stagger.
My guess is that it was closer to 46/44.3

Only three faster times IN THE WORLD last year!

my split is an exchange split.. ie.. i ended the split and started the next at the moment the baton was exchanged.
Whatever the case is Tony McQuay ran a MONSTER 2nd leg. and i wouldnt be surprised if the real split is actually sub 44.

Split should be taken at the midpoint of the zone, not necessarily at the moment of exchange. Should be close, but could be off half a second or more.
please don't post your splits if you don't know where to take them...please
could someone go into more detail on how to take 4x400 splits?...I always thought you did it when the baton crosses the line
Damn. That is smoking. The SEC is crazy this year, especially the 400m.
If everyone stays healthy can you imagine the competition in the 4x4?
You got - Florida
- Mississippi State
- Alabama
- LSU
- Georgia
All these teams can do great things this year.

Texas A&M and Baylor are the only teams that can compete with Florida in the 4x4. The other SEC teams have one or two top 400m guys. None of them have the depth that UF can put out there.
The only question I have is whether C Taylor has the endurance to compete in two jump competitions and come back and run his best in the 4x4.

the first split needs to be taken in the middle of the exchange zone. on the first pass during a 4x4 this is marked on almost all tracks by the 800m start line, usually colored green. all the other splits should be taken when the baton crosses the start/finish line.
It's funny because they could beat any other entire country. Why is the US full of good 400 runners, we've probably won 80% of the Olympic medals in history, where is everyone else, why can't we be good at other events

We are the top country historically in the:
100
200
400
110H
400H
LJ
4x100
4x400
without question.
There are several others where we are arguably the top country.
If you mean why aren't we good at distance, that's a better question.
The one I don't get is why we aren't better at the 800.
