Damn... I've been watching the wrong race...
Greetings,
It was a beautifull race for Tadese, He run alone the 2ª part of the race allways in progression. He gave 1 minute to Kitwara e Duncan Mutai. Gharib was 4ª I guess. In womens the winner was Askele Tafa with 68:XX
Regards
Rod
Dehardloopkrant.com says 58:23 for Tadese.
Tadese -58.23
Kitwara-1.00.03
Duncan Kibet-1.00.21
Masai- 1.00.28
Charib (Marokko) 1.00.33
Megazuni (Kenia) 1.01.07
Mathew Kisorio (1.01.10)
Sammy Koskei (1.02.01)
Kebenei (1.02.01)
Look at those times! He beat Kitwara and Kibet by almost two minutes. That's a Komen-esque performance by Tadese.
Zersenay is now the man.
correction: Peninah Arusei defeated Askale Tafa.
is the course in lisbon eligible for WRs(net downhill)?
to answer myself: they have obviously changed the course in 07 or 08 and is now within the limits.
Correct ! :-)
actually that dehardloopkrant site says:
Tadese 58:23
Kitwara 59:47
Emmanuel Mutai 1:00:03
Duncan Kibet 1:00:21
...

Thanks for the correction. They must have changed that in the meantime. Poor Kitwara: going sub 60 and still losing by 84 seconds is tough.
A colleague of mine ran in Lisbon today. How I envy him for being in that historic race!
IAAF says 58:22 (http://www.iaaf.org/LRR10/news/newsid=56209.html)
Official Lisbon half marathon website crashed.

O.k., so now IAAF says 58:23, too. Try to imagine: two back to back 27:40 10ks (plus another 1.1 k at that speed).
Here is some video I found of the finish: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLry_5EniV0&translated=1
Tadesse Has always been the man! I love Bekele but Tadesse so deserves this after his gutsy runs in the past trying to take down the Anbessa in various 10000m champs.
41:33 at 15K - only four seconds off Felix Limo's WR. Still, I notice that Wanjiru, Merga, and Makau have all recorded 15K splits under 41:33 in half marathons in the last few years. Yet they all faded, while Tadese hung on for the half WR, and a 20K WR en route.
Maybe this suggests his endurance is fantastic right now, and he might post a really fast time (<2:05) at London next month. Or maybe it suggests nothing of the sort, because 2:04 pace and 1:57 pace are very different.

He didn't just hang on-he sped up!
Last 3.8 miles @ 4:25 pace.
He gives hope to all those with homely running form, yet flog themselves on to greatness.
Very happy for Tadesse...he is so talented and always seems to just fall short!
