Any poredictions for Solinsky's 1st steeple race ever at Stanford next week? Shame Jerry is moving him to make room for Jager and Teg!

Make room for what? At least Solinsky competes and still very weel at distances out of his best.
Jager? When was the last time he ran? What is up with that, no sightings in 6 months?
Teg? He still runs?
Oh I forgot, XC and Indoor both are no longer seasons and would have him running more than 6 races an entire year.
Half tongue in cheek, but maybe not really?
These guys really do not race nearly enough, not just for me, but as a sport, they are barely in one.....
Rumors of Solinsky steepling finally coming true. I say 8:27 in first ever next weekend. Jerry probably feels like Teg and Jager are better and he continues to worry about Lagat still being around. He needs to make sure Chris has a chance to make the next olympic team and his only chance is steeplechase where there is no telling who is going to be on that team!
If he does steeple, I would gues he injures himself soon. Have to agree there isn't much established in steeplechase right now.
Macadams is getting up in years.
Slats seems done.
Fam moving up in distance.
Olinger has lost it.
Bruce too old
Nelson and Alcorn seem like only hope in event!
I predict DNS.
Wasn't he entered in the steeple last year?
uhhh... ever hear of Dan Huling?8:14.69 4 Dan Huling Reebok 09/04 Brussels GP

What a moronic statement. It can be argued that Solinsky is the prototypical (non Kenyan) steepler in the same mold as Garderud and Malinowski (old school). Great track times; muscular build; etc.
I think he will have his minor troubles in the first couple attempts, but long-term, he is sub 8:10 or better. You heard it here.
Huling is in class by himself.
Ran 8:14; that's the 6th fastest in American history!
Only Olinger (training mate) has gone sub-8:20 and is currently racing (Slattery and Fam done with the event?)
Ill go out on a limb and say that Solinsky will be under 8:20 by his 3rd steeple. I think Huling will have his hands full after that. Will be fun to watch.
Solinsky will have to lose the socks if he wants to be competitive in steeple - wet knee socks are not excatly conducive to fast times ! Hopefully he does not replace them with arm warmers!!

Solinsky is not the 'prototypical' steepler.
Garderud was a skinny waif.
Malinowski was atypical of steeplers.
I agree about someones comment being 'moronic'. Only it wasn't the guy your were attacking.

Yes you are out on a limb. The only way to find out what he can run in the steeplechase is to actually run one. While I believe that Schumacher is the best coach in America, he certainly does show a stubborn streak when it comes to the steeplechase. With Brandon Bethke, he kept trying to force a square peg into a round whole, even though Bethke had clearly proven year after year that he had no talent for the event.
Hopefully he has wises up with Solinsky and makes an up or down decision on this one effort.
round hole.
I don't know what is funnier - the view on Letsrun that any fast white kid who has slightly more meat than a stick figure will make a great steepler, or the fact that Solinsky is finally competing in the steeple. It's a draw.
Chances of Chris actually racing steeple: under 20%.
My prediction: 8:44. That is no disrespect to Chris, actually it would be a great debut time, it's just a much tougher event than people realize.
are accepted entries for stanford up yet?

Hasn't Chris run under 7:40 for 3K? Adding on over a minute for barriers and the water pit at that speed seems like a lot. Assuming he is pretty crappy and has some nasty stutters going on i think 8:30 is doable. I don't think he'd go wing it considering that jerry learned from martin smith who learned from probably the master of steeple technique in the U.S. And actually I'm pretty sure Jerry learned directly from him as well.
With Rupp, Lagat, Teg and Jager sneaking up it's not a terrible idea to take a stab at it but he better indicate that 8:20 is within reach or as malmo said just forget it.
Didn't Solinsky do a 2k steeple in high school? I thought he did and was pretty successful at it.
Is Lincoln officially done? He is only 30 years old

No effing way he runs 8:44. I debuted as a college freshman in 9:18 with a 3k flat PR of 8:36. Solinksy is a minute faster than that. I would say if he runs any slower than 8:36 he should forget about it and go back to the 5k. He's probably ultimately capable of 8:15 or faster, but it's kind of hard to tell with the steeple. It'd probably be his best shot at consistently making US teams as I don't know of any other steeple chasers on the same level as Chris at the flat distances 1500-5000 other than Fam.
