Sergio Sanchez, commenting on his recent improvements,
"There have been no miracles and there has been no cheating, I've just worked very, very hard," commented Sanchez.
I realised last summer, after Berlin, that was 27-years-old. I wasn't a child any more and I didn't want to finish my running career with any regrets, thinking that there could have been things that I could have done but didn't."
"I've become like an African runner. In September and October I was doing 205 kilometres a week. I train three times a day: firstly, at 7am in the morning, again at noon and then another training session at 6pm.
"I've changed my diet as well. It's now much more natural, I don't eat any of the famous sausages or pork," he added, with a mild sense of regret as his home region of León is famous for its pig farming and high quality pork products. "I now eat only vegetables, fruit, fish and grilled things."
Nevertheless, he was adamant that the sacrifices would all be worthwhile if he can break Garcia's record on Saturday and then get a World Indoor Championships medal.

If only we could all become like African runners...
