So with all this talk about minimalism and the arguments as to whether barefoot running is more healthy than shod running, it seems like the upshot of the whole thing is getting your stride more efficient, since minimalist shoes make you quickly realize that heel striking will hurt while well padded shoes can allow you to get sloppy with your form.
my question is this: if you practice good form and are constantly making sure to strike the ground efficiently and lightly, are there any drawbacks to running in a padded neutral shoe? i'm thinking shoes like the pegasus, vomero, wave rider, nimbus, etc. by using efficient form and shock-attenuating shoes, aren't you reducing your injury risk even more?
