Anyone raced in the Nike Zoom Streak 3 yet?
Anyone raced in the Nike Zoom Streak 3 yet?
Bump.
Has anyone trained and/or raced in these?
I usually train in racing flats and the last 2 pairs of shoes I had were the Asics Hyperspeed 3's, and the Nike Streak XC's. I bought a pair of streak 3's and they have a really prominent midfoot post that caused swelling in my foot after about 35 miles. They look pretty, though.
For reference, i'm 170 pounds and running like 60 miles a week.
Could we have a non-clydesdale comment on them? No offense Jonathon...
Clydesdale is 200 lbs and up, dummy.

What do you mean when you say "midfoot post"? Like a prominent arch?
midfoot post is a stabilization device used for over pronaters.
While a post is supposed to refer to a higher density area of foam to control pronation, I would guess he's referring to a higher arch, given the Streak 3 has no post.
I'm interested in knowing how the Streak 3 compares to the Marathoner for regular training. I use the latter for all my running and the Streak is a fair bit lighter although appears to be as cushioned. Perhaps just a case of a lighter upper? Will get a pair in a week or two and would appreciate feedback in the meantime.
bump
I am thinking about buying the Nike Zoom Streak 3 for track races because I don't think that my Lunaracers are very good for running fast on a track. I raced in the first Zoom Streak XCs most of my college career for cross and track.
Are the Zoom Streak 3s similar to the first Zoom Streak XC? Would it be better than the Lunaracers for track (races 3k-10k)?
I found that the extremely curved nature of the Streak 3 did not fit my foot. I found the streak xc 2 to be a much better design, for me. I've found streak xc1, lunracer, and the old streak vapor to work well with my foot in the past.
I have raced in the Original Streak XC which was a great shoe but the cushion to shoe was a little soft and it felt a little bouncy running in them and I ripped through he upper every 100 miles. The Streak XC 2 which I wear now is like a half an ounce heavier but has more responsive cushioning and a more comfortable upper. Have not tried the Streak3 yet but it looks simalar.
Okay, what about the Streak 3 or the Lunaracers performance on the track?
I've only used the Streak 3 on the roads twice, and probably won't use it for anything quick again. It left a solid blister on the top of my arch, and I can honestly say it's the most curve lasted shoe I've ever run in. I'm sure there are many people out there who it would work great for. The upper on the Streak 3 is rather minimal and light.
The lunar isn't the best track shoe. It's a bit soft, but if you're doing a long workout in them they are a bit forgiving on the legs. The Streak XC 2 with the updated cushlon sole is probably the best shoe for doing track work in that Nike has in line currently. It also appears to have a plate that runs through the mid-foot which would increase its responsiveess.
Is the Streak 3 comparable to the Streak XC 2? Other than getting a blister on your foot, do you think the Streak 3 would do well on the track or is it more like the Lunaracer?
I haven't run in the Streak XC II but that is a fair bit lighter than the Streak III. The latter is designed more as a 10K+ road racing shoe and is marketed as a replacement for the Zoom Marathoner.
I've logged about 80 miles in my Streak III so far and am enjoying running in them. They are more flexible and lighter than the Marathoner but stand up well to longer runs on the road (in my case, an 18 miler). Have run at tempo on the track in them too but they're not what you want for 5000m or under.
Thanks for all of your comments on this thread, I think I will go with the Streak XC II.
I have also contemplated going back to spikes, but I would want one that has a decent amount of cushioning like a flat and something that is not too aggressive.
So, out of the Matumbo, Rival D, and the Ventulus, what would the best spike be for a non-aggressive flat converter?
