Wondering if anyone on here was doing this race, or knew of any good talent going. It has flew under the radar a little bit. There is a $13,000 prize purse.

I heard 14:40 Jonathon Riley will be there!
Holla!!!!
We have learned that the average person reading this thread is a dismal 15:45. I am pretty sure that is not going to be in the money. You are probably asking the wrong crowd.
Oh letsrun and their novel averages. What a wonderful site
The local paper in corvallis said sara hall, lauren fleshman, sally meyerhoff & meghan armstrong. &13,000 for a 5k though...I would hope some big names show up!
Michael Kilburg for the win in 13:50. He will finally look good shedding that ugly ass Hansons uniform.
Thanks.

What was the distribution of $$?
Close finish. Seemed like a good start for a first year race.
results are wrong. Look at the video of the finish. Ben Bruce was clearly 4th ahead of Mike Nicks. Maybe a chip problem. If True wa 14:04 Bruce should have been 14:10-14:11 then Nicks 14:12
Lauren Fleshman was slated to run. Didn't see her in the results... I did see a Lauren Johnson. Married name?
Fleshman didn't run. For a first year event, this was a solid field. Kudos to Strands for putting up solid prize money for American distance runners.
from what I have heard it was a great race. A big pack though half way lead by Josh Glaab. Glaab continued to lead though past 2 miles as a group of 4 pulled away including Glaab, Ben True, Jon Riley, and Carlos Trajillo. They were followed by a large chase group of about 8 including Ben Bruce, Mike Nicks, Michael Kilberg, Nick Hersh, and Trever Palmer. Bruce lead the chase group and Glaab was caught by the chase group with about 1k to go. The lead three of True, Riley, and C. Trajillo had pulled away at this point. Bruce made a break from the chase group and caught the top three with about 600 to go but then the kick started. True lead Trajillo and Riley to the finish but not with out a late charge from both with 100 to go from both sides. Video can be seen at
. True kicked away in the final strides with Trajillo and Riley close behind. Bruce seemed to cruise in for 4th all the while checking behind him and Nicks and Kilberg battled to the line with Nicks grabbing 5th. Glaab and Palmer rounded out the top 8 in 14:15 (a great time on the road but unfortunately just out of the money). Video of finish can be seen here
I wonder if they'll be able to repeat the race next year as it sounded like a great run on a nice, fast course (my friend ran it). The money brought out a very competitive field, but the race only had 141 finishers -- and they were offering a free entry to the first 100 people to register, meaning only a handful of people actually paid to race.
There was a competitive xc race a mile down the road which drew about 260 collegiate and open runners and I heard that a couple of guys doubled - I don't know how this may have affected entries.
Great to see True get a win in basically his professional debut. (I think he went ot Japan on the Ivy Ekiden team earlier this month)- such a talent and so dedicated.
Wasn't that the dude everyone ripped on because 40 other US runners could do beat him. I guess Riley isn't one of them.
