Who do you think would be on the all time USA XC team?
1. Dathan Ritzenhein
2. Frank Shorter
3. Steve Prefontaine
4. George Young
5. Bob Kennedy
6. Galen Rupp
7. Mark Nenow

lindgren?
Craig Virgin, 2 time world xc champ!?
Lindgren was good but all of the guys I have listed are better than him.
I don't know how I left virgin out. He actually should be in there
Pat Porter?? Dominated US cross in the 80s.
Craig Virgin
Pat Porter
Bob Kennedy
Steve Prefontaine
Gerry Lindgren
Dathan Ritzenhein
Galen Rupp
and in case rupp or ritzenhein got sick, i would have ryan hall and frank shorter as reserves.
On the basis of his 2006 USA Cross Country victory alone, which was one of his breakout performances, I'd have Ryan Hall on the list.
I couldn't put Frank Shorter as a reserve. He won a gf medal in the Olympic marathon and was an American record holder in the 10k. To me he's easily one of the top 3 all time greats for the U.S. I'm not sure we'll ever have another gold medalist in the marathon.
How do you leave off two American medalists at World Cross, Rodgers and Virgin? Let's hear the argument.
I actually would replace Rupp with Craig Virgin. Like I said earlier I don't know how I left Virgin out.

4. Steve Prefontaine
5. Dathan Ritzenhein

7. Pat Porter
This list looks better
How the hell do you not have Pat Porter on that list,The guy won 8 straight titles and if Im not mistaken he was top 10 at Worlds.
Yeah and he's good, but he's not that good. When has he ever set an American record? Or World record? Or won gold at a major US or World champ?
The answer would be NEVER therefore he doesn't deserve to be on the list

I just laughed when I saw the OPs list and Porter was not on it.
People forget that Teg is about as good at cross country at Ritz, he just doesn't run it ever.
German Fernandez 14:24 5k at State Meet his senoir year duh!
he got 4th, 6th, 7th, 9th and 10th at world cross.
He's not that good?
Porter's World Cross finishes included 4th, 6th, 9th and 10th. I believe he also held the world's best for 10K on the road.
One could also make a pretty good argument for Thom Hunt, among others, over Nenow.

you just read that on wikipedia and reworded it. you believe what you are told. which is right in this case.
