Nice.
Pretty successfull year for him.
Three Americans at 3:33 or better.
Woo Hoo!
Great run, Leo
Way to come on in the last 50 meters!
0/2 holding the pace at world level meets
I know, he should strive to be more like you.
people like you really suck...
when something good happens, what is it that makes you feel it is necessary, with zero prompting, to point out something negative...
had someone said, Manzano ran 3:33 and has a flawless championship record, I would understand...however this thread was about nothing except his pr yet you felt the need to come on here and bash him...
you must lead a miserable existence...my sympathies

Take a pill lady.
It is annoying that Manzano can run that fast, yet when it comes to big championship races he lays a big smelly egg.
why?
even with this pr he still has a slower pr than anyone else in the field in the wc final by over a second (I think)...
get excited when he prs because once he progresses to 3:30-3:31 his fitness will be on par with the rest of the field and hell be able to compete
just making the final for him this year with the fitness he had was a huge accomplishment...meaning he had a great wc

You are delusional!
Let's compare the World Rankings based on time versus the American finishes at the World Championships.
Manzano: Season Best 3:33.33, season rank by time -16th , finish at Worlds-12th, Performed better at World's than his ranking
Lomong: Seson Best 3:32.94, season rank by time- 15th, finish at Worlds- 8th, Performed better at World's than his ranking
Lagat: Season Best 3:32.56, rank by time 13th, finish at World's 3rd, Performed better at World's than his ranking...
Conclusion: Americans succeeded in the championship races this season, they just aren't as good as the rest of the world yet.
or there are only 3 kenyans allowed in world events, allowing ours (minus lagat) to finish higher than their times...

What, like make the final? He did better this year than he did in '07 and '08. So he finished last. Everyone in that race had a faster PR, so it's not like he choked or anything. So negative...

Only four Kenyans have run faster than Lomong and Manzano this year, so there was only 1 faster Kenyan left at home. Both performed acceptably at Worlds - Manzano was right around the place you'd expect and Lomong beat some excellent runners, unexpectedly.
Way to go, Leo!
How come manzano doesn't get the same amount of praise as ritz, teg or alan webb?
He's getting praise here, isn't he?
But to answer your question, Ritz's and Teg's performances were in Golden League meets and they place higher on all-time U.S. lists than Leo's does.
Webb is a U.S. recordholder in the mile. But I wasn't aware he'd gotten any praise on here lately.
Great run for Leo! Agreed, he's had a very good season.
Well then why is't Lagat getting the same praise as Teg and Ritz. Didn't he just get silver AND bronze at the world champs?

It's not as exciting as when he won both two years ago. People get excited over new things.

This is a good comparison to make, but it makes more sense to include only the guys in the final in the season rankings.
Manzano: Season Best 3:33.33, season rank by time -12th , finish at Worlds-12th, Performed equal to his ranking
Lomong: Seson Best 3:32.94, season rank by time- 11th, finish at Worlds- 8th, Performed better at World's than his ranking
Lagat: Season Best 3:32.56, rank by time 9th, finish at World's 3rd, Performed better at World's than his ranking.
So our guys still performed as well as or better than expected. Of note, Choge, Baala, Ali, Laalou, Iguider, and, of course, Kiprop all performed worse than their rankings. Everyone else did better.

He is getting praise here but not to the same extent as teg got when he ran a 12:58 and got seventh. Leo runs a 3:33 and got second.
