I have a pair of nike lunaracers that I bought back in april. I've worn them for a half marathon, a ten mile race, and many workouts. I'm racing a half marathon this weekend and I really don't want any shin problems because of worn out shoes.

You're not going to get shin problems from worn out shoes. Just make sure one side of your shoe isn't completely worn down compared to the other side of your shoe. If your shoe is fairly evenly worn on both sides then they are still good. You can generally put more mileage on flats than trainers because the more cushioning a shoe has the faster it will ware.
They're Nikes, they weren't a good shoe to begin with.
Do you still run fast in them? If so, they are good. If you are running slow, it's gotta be the shoes.
