Is it worth going?
I'm thinking very seriously of making the trip and wanted to know if the opportunity to closely view the races as a true fan will be there.

I've been thinking of going as well. It's just an hour drive for me though, so it's not that much of a decision. Anyone know how much the tickets are?
I highly recommend going. It is a great venue and an awesome area. It's fairly close to San Francisco and Yosemite National Park. You could really make a 10 day trip out of it. See the events you really want and be a tourist the other days. If you do it right it can be farly inexpensive.
if you are not staying in sacramento... where else can you stay... tahoe is near by (90min, i think). one could camp for a number of days, that is pretty damn cheap. i got my tix, now im trying to figure out where to stay... to me its details... just curious to see if anyone has input.
the motel 6 a 1/2 mile from the track is $60/night for 2 queen/full size beds. with 4 people that's just $15/night. also, sac state may be offering dorm packages to fans.
definitely worth the trip. 2000 was awesome. i can't wait for this year!
sehon40... dude, 123 conestoga is heading out also, which apt are you livin' in down on the main line. i was outside BMRStore trying to figure out which place was yours. i take it you are going out this year... let me know where you will be at or drop me an email sometime. if you are trying to figure out who i am, im am not fatty.
hope all is well bro.
Get ready...only 6 months till Parasol West is open..
i'm above suburban hardware.
i doubt that you're spliff....but that would be pretty cool if you were.
drop me an e-mail so we can get some wings on thursday.
I may make the trip myself, anything to do for the family if we go.??..I have never been to Sactown before...
ahhhhhhh...nope.

hell yeah it's worth going. We had a blast last time around. I drove out from Colorado, and it was worth it. Just remember to be prepared for potentially beastly heat.
As far as stuff to do, well...
there's plenty of bars and clubs in Sactown if you're into that, also lots of good restaurants, the zoo(?), the river trail, Folsom/Natomas lake, river rafting on the American, etc.
San Francisco w/ all it's attractions is close by (90 min. drive depending on traffic), and Lake Tahoe is also relatively close (which is a must if you've never been). If you're want family friendly amusement park type of fun you might check out Marine World in Vallejo (about a 60 min. drive) or I'm sure there's some kind of water slide type of park in or near Sacto.
hope that helps. see ya' there.
Also, "old Sacramento" is a great place to take the family. It's a downtown area of buildings dating from the 1800's with a bunch of neat shops and good restaurants. There is also a great train museum there. Sacramento also has about a dozen other interesting museums (see www.sacmuseums.org) and a nice zoo.
went in 2000, it was well worth it.
make reservations early though, i spent 1 night in the car.
reno is just a few hours away as well.
I went with six of my buddies for the trails in 2000 and we had a blast!! The atmosphere at the meet was great adn we got to meet a bunch of athletes. I would highly reccomend it. It is a good venue for track and field.
Come visit Excremento!
We're just 90 minutes away from a lot of good shit.
I believe Clint Eastwood made the drive from San Francisco to Sacramento in well under an hour in the movie True Crime. And he was drunk.
did he take highway 37 or the bay bridge?
i'm not sure, but it was a twisty, windy road, and it was raining. and he pulled at least one 180.
Try one of the K.O.A. camps in the foothills just above Sac. Shingle Springs if I recall. Log cabins about $50.00 a night. 45 minutes approx from trials.
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
