Currently i am a 400 hurdler in high school. Next year i will be going to college and for the indoor season will probably be movign up to the 800, since I only have mediocre speed and have always excelled over the later stages of races. As a junior i ran one 800 alone at a relay meet while my legs were beat up, i ran 2:12. I have never really made a serious effort at a race above 400 meters, especially when healthy. My question is what should i do over the summer to prepare myself? I know the current theme is to build a big burely base, but i have no experience at doing any real mileage build up since i have been trained as a sprinter. My high school seasopn will be done by the beginning of june and i will begin practicing with my college team in mid august. I have talked to my future coach and since my colleges indoor seson doesnt begin until mid january athletes are just asked to keep in good condition over the summer months. I hope to take full advantage of opportunities presented in the collegiate system and thus feel a need to work hard during the summer. Thanks for any suggestions
