I think there were articles about that on the Serpentine UK running club web site. It's very bizarre and complicated.
I think though that the way you do it is to do long intervals or "tempo" runs. There is a book on AT threshold training. You can check amazon.com for that book.
As for the articles on how to improve VO2Max, you can type in Serpentine running VO2Max in Google and check it out.
There's also "peak performance" online.

You're in luck. Well, you're nearly in luck. Rumor has it that an article on this very topic will be available on this site before the end of the month ... if the sluggards who are supposed to be writing it will get off their kiesters and finish it.
A question even more important then increasings one's V02.....is to increasse one's effiency....You can have a a V02 of 75....and someone else can have one of 65....yet they could reach theirs at a speed of say 13 miles per hour...where as you might reach yours at only 12....so even though your's is higher it won't do shit for you because your running economy sucks. Many greats have beaten others with much higher V02's because they were much more efficient. Something to think about and research for yourself.
