1:09:17
1:11:07...and finish line tears.
Adam is awful, now. Therefore Kara wont be able to suck talent from him like she as over the last few years.
1:16:45
if she dumped adam and found someone new to talent vampire:
1:08:37
I'll giver her the 1:08:37 even with Adam around.
1:09:54
1:08:39 for the Half Karathon.
what other elites are in the field? that matters when predicting times.
26:30 @ 5miles
33:00 @ 10km
53:00 @ 10 miles
see what she can do or feels comfortabe with over the last 5km
Just hitting splits and going sub 1:09 would bring a smile from coach I`d bet.
Worlds goal is going to be 5:18pace(target sub 2:19:36).

Not gonna happen. No way no how is Kara Goucher breaking 2:20 at the World's in Berlin. I wish I could place a bet on this, I'd bet Alberto himself, really. Target pace, I believe, real world, ain't gonna happen.
alrighty then................. wrote:

I was speculating what we might see come the dawn. What the Worlds look like is another guess. Doing the above especially if she is alone will show if it is worth taking a shot @ the AR and just letting the race unfold around that. Returning with the AR regardless of hardware would be a goal if the front is at 2;17 pace. If the lead group does wind up at 35k in 1:56 she is in the race.
Will we see a fast Worlds race in general? Let us get a tad closer but about now I am thinking leadpack is 36 low for first 10km. A lot of what ifs after that to play with...
For the men if you get to 35km at 1:46;30 I am pretty sure you will have missed the medal bus.
I predict there won't be drug testing.
Race is in 2hrs. Weather is perfect. There is no prize money, so no "elites". There are a few locals that are pretty fast. Winner will probably go 67-68. Last years winner was 70 but the course was an estimated .5mi long.
Is Kara going to race, or pace? With worlds coming up, I could see her going steady hard for the first 10, then picking it up. After Boston, she has to learn how to kick.
I say she goes 69 and change. watch the race live at chicago.competitor.com
no prize money? if true that is surprising as elite racing has always had prize money in its races, is this a one time thing for elite racing? i always liked their races as they featured some established stars mixed in with new comers who people will know in a few years, i hope they are not changing and no longer having elites in number, i was looking forward to kara goucher racing some unknowns that can run 67-70 minutes and give her a race, well i guess she can race the men.
and why in the world would they show the race live if there is no prize money, meaning for a runner like kara goucher it is a glorified tempo run???
1:09:52 - can't remember where I read it, but I understand that the plan was to run marathon pace for the first 2/3 or so of the race and finish fast.

no prize money = no drug testing = American record = $$$$$$$ from Nike = no need for prize money
I'll go with 1:08:04
OP was close. She won in ~1:08:03. Said afterwards, "I put my personal life on hold for the World Championships and I don't care if I blow up halfway, I'm going out with a bang." Rock on, Kara.
