Who is Ben True? Ive seen a couple threads about this guy and have no idea who he is. While thats an impressive time, it would have been more impressive had he beat the Kenyans.
Sweet, that puts him a whole 20 seconds ahead of the women's world record!
Wow...that was on the roads! Good to see that letsrun posters are still the most well-informed and analytical posters out there.
Pretty sweet time... until you consider that the Africans are running close to 27 flat.
I think Ben needs to take a serious look at some of the olympic development programs out there instead of beating up on the locals. He's got some serious talent that needs to be developed a bit more. He doesn't belong on the local, New England road circuit. That 29:10 could realistically be 27:40 with the right training group, coach, and locale.
i understand ben has became a member of OTC Elite. and for those who might wonder, he ran 31:02 last year (boaz ran 28:24 as another side note).
yeah after this summer Ben is moving out to oregon to train with OTC elite

Ok it's posts like this that will get you banned. You are contributing nothing to the forum. Negative posts that are adding insight are fine but posts like yours will get you banned.
Bruce Hyde as Rojo....freaky.
Ben True finished in the top 10 overall.(29:10)The guy that finished in 9th has run a 2:04 marathon.Time isn't necessarily as important as who you ran with and how you ran against them.
I tried to sign up for this race, but it filled up in 2 hours!!!

That is correct...as for the poster above you, only a fool would consider B2B some local new england road circuit race. He ran a nice 5k as a tuneup and entered B2B, a race that would more than challenge him, and one that is for pride in Maine inparticular.

I love you.
Also, what kind of conditions was the race run in? I know it's the summer, but it's in Maine. I'll guess around 70ish
It was 80 degrees, somewhat humid, but overall decent conditions. The fact that he was within a minute of some of the best road racers in the world should mean something but as we all know, many letsrun posters would rather denigrate the efforts of those who accomplish rather than doing something to make themselves better.
As for Ben, he will be with OTC this fall and was sporting their gear today.
And, as mrr82 pointed out, to call this a NE circuit race only reveals your ignorance. The top runners in this race will be at Falmouth next week (OK, that's in NE) but were also at Bix, Peachtree, etc. and as someone pointed out, there was a 2:04 marathoner in there. Of course, on letsrun, there will be somebody here to shit on a 2:04 marathoner as well.
How many U.S. guys have run faster than 29:09 on the roads this year in similar conditions? Of those, how many are 1:50/sub-four guys?
The posts on this board are seemingly what would result from a fusion of Vince McMahon, Eeyore, Glenn Beck, Corky from "Life Goes On," and a 50-gallon drum of ketamine.
multisport (xc running/outdoor/xc skiing) all-american from Dartmouth who decided to give up competitive skiing last year to focus on running.
Exactly...unfortunately for every well-informed good intentioned poster...there are like 4 that are just not thinking. 29:10 on the roads for a guy who focused more on the 1500 this year is pretty darn good. Especially considering it is on the roads and after his main racing cycle. I think with this type of endurance good things are on the horizon for Mr. True.

Well he ran it on a pancake flat course and did get dragged to that time... I mean theres running a 2:04 and then theres his 2:04. Big difference.
