At practice, i consistently finish right next to our top guys during hard workouts. When it comes to race day, I dont do nearly as well, often losing to people who I usually beat in practice. Does this just mean I am bad at racing? Or mabye I am pushing myself to hard at practice? At the beginning of indoor i ran a 4:51 mile. By the end of outdoor I PRed and ran a 4:49. I really expected more. After hard workouts, I feel as though i should easily be able to run in the low 40's.
