Anyone tried them? The upper doesn't look as socklike as the old ones. How do they compare?

The original streak xc was great; I had 3 pairs of them. The new one is alright but I don’t think it is as good. It’s a little firmer and more difficult to get on your toes. Also there is a seam that hits where my toenail meets the skin on my big toe. I’ve run 4 miles in them and yet to have a problem though. And if you have flat feet (like I do) your arch is spilling over the edge. However I didn’t feel that, nor did it cause any problems while running.
But given what I just said a friend of mine prefers the second version to the first.
We just got them in today at the running store where I work. There is a very noticeable bit of extra cushioning at the forefoot, and the lateral side of the heel of the shoe. The upper is very minimal, the mesh looks scratchy but is actually quite soft. They seem to run long, so size down, I wore an 8.5 in the original Streak XCs and most other Nike shoes, these I was fitting much better in an 8.
