Another big PR for Riseley.
Another big PR for Riseley.
I have watched this kid do 1:45 in Ostrava, a 3:51 mile in Oslo, and now 3:32 in Rome--he is the real deal. If he didn't run in lane 2 most for the last two laps he would likely have been near a 3:31....huge future for this guy.
He doesn't take advantage of his size nearly enough. He was dead last for 1.5 laps or so. He's gotta throw some elbows and get physical against the smaller Africans. Probably needs to talk to Mottram on race tactics. But - he's got some kinda talent alright. 3:2x is a distinct possibility in a few years with some hard training and better race tactics. Has an Aussie ever broken 3:30?
How old is he? How does it work for these Aussies? Are they attending universities as regular students and training professionally?

Nope.
What is this man's age.
He is 22 and turning 23 in November.
Aussie record is 3.31.96 i think... looks to be in danger

Nick Bideau
he just keeps getting better...No collegiate university system in Australia. You basically run for a local club in your area (knox being the case for jeff)
Jeff has made some awesome progession- Interesting fact is that in 2006 his 1500m pb was only around 3.56 at the end of season in march. He then stopped playing australia rules football and ran a cross country season and made massive improvements.
He has also jumped around 2.00m in high jump and also won a medal in the 400m hurdles at a junior nationals!
Fernandez would have beat him.
Fernandez he run like metronome.
Fernandez would be lucky if Riseley let him carry his bag.

I don't think someone who has just knocked 3 seconds off their pb to run 3:32 needs your (or my) advice!
All time list:
http://www.iaaf.org/statistics/toplists/inout=o/age=n/season=0/sex=M/all=y/legal=A/disc=1500/detail.htmlActually, Riseley is coached by Richard Huggins from the Knox Club in Melbourne. They have a big group of gun runners between about 15 and 25yo. Richard has coached many of them from the word go and a lot of the credit has to go to him. Nick Bideau manages quite a few Aussies when they are in Europe and their regular coaches aren't there.
Note that Madelaine Pape won the 800m at the World Uni's this week and comes from Waverley, a club based about 5km away.

as knox's hj record holder, im glad that he started MD's. my record was in serious danger. the kid has talent.
he considered decath at least for a little bit, but i dont think he can throw or high hurdle, might be wrong on the hurdle bit. can you imagine how his 1500 would go when the rest of us are slogging away just trying to finish?
to top it off, he is just a good bloke.
