he will never beat an east african
Reveals nothing special about the kid that we didn't already know.
After his run in the snow last fall, it's going to take a hell of a performance to move him up the ladder.
Chris Derrick - 13:55...
Not to take anything away from Trevor's 14:33 but come this was just last year.

i was hoping he would break 14, he clearly is not in the shape he was in when he ran that 9 minutes for 2 miles in snow, and that he only ran 68 for the last 400 shows he did not have much left.
I know he has been hurt recently, still a solid run.
14:33... Meh.
9:01 and 14:33 are VERY similar results. Conditions make a pretty big difference, but 14:33 is similar to a 3200 @9 flat...
Great job, Trevor!!!! Keep up the great running!
Great run.
He was injured indoors and is a bit behind in his training. I think he'll improve a ton. In an interview he said he plans to run the NON 2 mile. He's going to Portland for college, right?
9:00 2 mile = 4:30 mile pace
14:30 5k = 4:38 mile pace.
I say the 5k is a better performance.
This guy says the two times are about the same.
I've got to think that 14:33 - instead of sub 14 - is due to his training in Alaska...on an island..with sub zero conditions in winter. This kid will blossom in college - much like Puskedra. He just needs the right environment.
It seems like he has the mental toughness to succeed at he next level. Alaskans usually are tough breed...

good thing he doesn't think like you:
Sect. 1
1 DUNBAR, TREVOR 12 KODIAK (AK) 14:52.59 14:33.96
12 MOHAMED, DAHIR 12 HOOVER 15:26.00 15:22.87
Lets not over play the Alaska weather. Many places in the US have weather conditions as tough or tougher than what he has.
He ran a good race so lets leave it at that.
Portland is a cross school anyways. They simply do not care about the track.
14:30's may not be an amazing time for a footlocker runner up, but I think it's impressive that he ran pretty much the whole race solo after a winter of being injured. Put him in a Stanford or Mt. SAC race with guys to run with and he probably goes 14:10 or better.
More impressive:
Dana Hills 10:01 DMR

Maybe, but shouldn't be taken as a ho-hum performance.
Dunbar ran the 9-flat snow race after a full summer of training and came right before the end of an incredibly successful (and uninterrupted) cross-country season.
The track season is just kicking off. Yes, Arcadia Invite is huge, but Penn Relays haven't happened yet. Major state meets are two months away. If he's training for NON, he's got a lot of time left this spring.
