I'm starting to get into trail running after a complete hiatus from running. I've normally worn motion control shoes (adidas or saucony). At the store yesterday, I saw a decent selection of "trail running" shoes. Are these things a gimmick, or is there actually some technology or logic behind them? I don't need new shoes just yet, so didn't want to waste a salesperson's time asking a bunch of questions with no intention of buying.
Am I missing out on something? They seem over priced and looked heavy.
