I have always been a serious runner. I ran D1 for a good program in college, competed well and continue to post good times at races now that I am thirty years old. I ran the 1500, 3k, 5k and 10k in college, along with XC. Now I run road races for the most part, all the way up to marathons.
Here is the deal:
I have never had problems with short running shorts. I never wore those really short ones with the split leg, not because I didn't want to, but mainly b/c I just had a ton of regular running shorts from Nike, Adidas, etc and they were normal running-short length.
Lately, I have taken a liking to a longer short made by Brooks. I have 4 pairs of them and really prefer them to other shorts. I feel as though I am making a statement by wearing them, even though I am not.
I just don't feel like they inhibit my movement at all. They are very comfortable, and I actually prefer them to the shorter shorts. I want to race in them.
Should I go with what feels good, or try to honor the runners code and stick to short shorts...?
I live in the US.
Thanks.
