Just got a Garmin 305 for my birthday. Should I return for the 405? I like the smaller size of the 405 better, but have heard from some that the 305 is easier to use.
Gracias.

I have both and use the 305 WAY MORE. The screen is easier to see, and though ugly, it's more comfortable on my wrist.

Thanks! Anyone else?
I have both as well and would get the 405. The 305 is huge, looks like a big computer on your wrist and feels heavier than the 405.
The 405 looks like a regular watch and feels like it weighs less. The 405 is not difficult to see at all, the Bezel on the 405 is an awesome feature too.
Try the 405 on and see how you like it.
Thanks.

Huh? My 405 shows me three stats at once.

The 305 has a longer battery life than the 405, has multisport mode which the 405 lacks, and has a larger screen. I prefer it for those reasons. The bezel does nothing for me.
I brought up this old thread because I am considering purchasing a Garmin and would like to know which is better, the 305 or the 405. I was originally going to get the 405, but I saw such poor reviews I looked at the 305, which had much better reviews.
Opinions?
anyone try the FR60 yet? looks better than both. doesn't need charged...can come with foot pod, seems much smaller
I have had both and I prefer the 405. Not sure why the 405 has been getting poor reviews.
Much of it is people have problems with the touch bezel and prefer the simplicity of the 305.
For those of you using a garmin:
What's your daily use case? Are you running the same runs daily? If so, what extra value do you get out of your garmin?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

the best thing about the garmin is knowing instantly what your min/mile pace is. that's some valuable information. for me it's been crucial for staying on pace in races over 10k (i used to positive-split terribly in marathons and halfs).
and then plugging it into your computer and seeing all your mile splits, pace fluctuations, changes in elevation, heart rate, etc., is heaven for any running nerd.
i use it when i run somewhere new, so if i get lost or take a different road i'll still know exactly how many miles i've covered. also use it for the crucial workouts: tempo runs, intervals, long slow distances.
i already know the distance of my normal weekday workouts, and i prefer to run those by feel, so i'll leave it at home then.
i have the 305. love it. curious about the 405, though. what the hell's a bezel?
I just bought a 305 yesterday. The reviews swayed me, as did the price tag. Just couldn't see how the 405 is almost $200 better than the 305.
And I've been using the 301 for several years, so the 305 feels smaller to me. I'm sure the 405 would've felt even more comfortable, but that's about the only advantage I saw.
Bought a 305 last week. Up until now i always shunned gadgets for running but lately i have been so bored with the routes i run. Now i can go anywhere at any pace knowing i won't have to do any extra work to log the correct paces, distances and effort.
