I'm new to track and field, and was curious what the difference is between LD track spikes and cross country spikes.
Can anyone explain it to me?

bout ten bucks.
Cross country spikes generally have some cushion under the forefoot as well and extra studs on the bottom. Often the forefoot has the sole curled up the sides a bit. The spike plate tends to be hidden behind the outer sole and the spike holes are recessed.

LD spikes are for runners with Learning Disabilities. Do you need a fitting or something?
get yourself a good pair of track spikes and you'll never go back to those heavy rubber pieces of crap that nike calls 'XC spikes.'
I wore the Ventulus+ for every race longer than a mile for my last 3 years of college.
However, if you're still in HS and there is a lot of 'crete on your XC courses, you'll still need the rubbers.
most xc races are "Rupp Certified" and thus do not require real xc spikes. there are, however, a few xc courses out there, particularly in the northern states and canada, where an xc spike would provide a little more protection against turning ankles and the like.
osu cowboy jamboree is easily in the top 5 hardest courses in the nation. and its located in the south.
