for $16 on amazon, it it worth the time reading.
I've heard about it, supposedly it is a running classic.
I'm not a elite, just looking for some time to kill during winter break.

Calling it a "classic" might be overdoing it but it is definitely worth a read.
YES! Buy it. Read it. Enjoy it.
f***k yes
It isnt being released until April.
I didn't like the book at all, but I'm also more of a non fiction guy. I thought that RWTB and Duel in the Sun were much better.
I do know a ton of people, however, who worship once a runner.
It is so worth reading.
Again to Carthage the much anticipated sequel came out last year and it is very good as well. Same style of writing.
Get both, read them back-to-back, you will permanently try to change your forum psuedonym to 'Cassidy' or 'Denton' or 'Mizner'.
You will be like a Treky.
I tried, couldn't get through it. Alot of it seems very dated. Trite. Boring.
No. Save the 16 bucks for the soon to be released "Confession of a Concrete Runner."
POD!
I hope he writes a book. He is easily the most enigmatic person on Let's Run.
Parker is great at getting you motivated to run

I majored in journalism and have read enough of everything from the classics to comic books and porn over the past 30 years.
It is not the best writing in the world, but Parker does an excellent job of capturing the inside of a runner's head. The competition descriptions are very well done. I ran for a D1 school in the early 80's, and although I wasn't an All-American, I certainly was exposed to the scene enough to validate the authenticity of Parker's take on things.
It is a fun read, I just hope all that you've heard about the book hasn't create unrealistic expectations. Definitely worth your time.
If you are a High school, college, or serious post-collegiate runner, then yes. If you're a runner who likes to read, then yes.
If you're not serious about running and you don't read many books, don't waste your time/money.
I have it in my down stairs toilet but can't get into it.
I keep reading "Get er Done" by Larry the CG.
I love to read. and i love running. And i like reading running books. For whatever reason. I did not like the book. I didn't like the style of writing. didn't really like the substance.

This is actually a bit misleading. Many of the more radical queer theorists and activists oppose gay marriage as vigorously as does the moral majority, because extension of the right merely reifies the institution of marriage and the normativity attributed to monogamy and hetero-normative lifestyle. Though I guess that means that you're spot on, because there are some runners who intensely dislike the book.
It takes about 3 hrs to read, and I guess it would've been a GREAT read if I was 15. I read it when I was 37, so I can't say it liked it very much at all.
Reading this book should be a requirement for every middle distance/ xc runner in college. It is the bible.
