Not in any order: Im sure ther are others
1) Arnie Shroeder
2) Tom Tourie
3) Seamus McElligot
4) Dan Held
5) Kevin Sullivan
6) Tom Morris
7) David Terronez
8) 1/2 miler from Lincoln

ummmmm....Paranya????
Ambo Bati for sure makes that list. Bati was well on his way to becoming the first D3 runner to break 4 in the mile in 1997. He ran 4:04 indoors and the next week he snapped his femur in an 800m race at Knox College. Ambo made an impossible comeback in a year's time and was an All-American in the 5k in 1998.
Oh crap, your right
Paranya should certainly be on that list seeing that he was the first d3 runner to run sub 4 for the mile...Rob Mitchell from Amherst should probably also make the list..Not sure about this one but Mark Miller(Keene State) 3 NCAA 1500 titles, and 2 time XC all american, and a 14:12 5k would likely also make the list.
is that a joke?
yeah, Paranya and Dan Mayer, Clive Terrelonge is the Lincoln 800 guy.
Kevin Sullivan? Unless there is a mystery KS, the Canadian miler went to Michigan
Arnie Schraeder, if he gets up there, then there needs to be a long list. Nothing against this guy or UWP, but there are a lot of better candidates. Dan Feldman (MIT) ran a 2:23 at Boston. Jeremy Burks and Ryan Meissen have both turned in fast 10ks in the past year, there's way to many. Maybe I'm missing something on Arnie's post-collegiate career, but the best I could find was a 2:29 at Grandma's Marathon last year.
who said post college career
Another Augie great to go along with Terronez and Bati is Sandu Rebencic. Sandu was a multiple national champ and runs for ARMY now, he just placed 10th in USTAF steeple this year.
Isn't Augustana D-II?
There certainly are others, like Dave Davis, Karl Paranya, Sandu Rubenciuc and Dan Mayer!
Davis is just starting to make a name for himself, Paranya got a fair amount of publicity a few years back precisely because he was a D3 guy running so fast, Sandu won a bunch of national titles, and Mayer obliterated the d3 national records at 5k and 10k IIRC.
I think Augustana is still D3. I know it was when Sandu Rebencuic was there. He and Seamus duked it out many a time.
Actually, I just checked. Augie is D-II now. Not sure when that happened.
There are two Augustana Colleges
Augustana (Rock Island, IL) is D3 and home of Bait, Terronez, Sandu and the mythic coach Paul V. Olsen
Augustana (South Dakota) is a D2 school
Guess which one I ran at.
there are two Augustanas, one in Rock Island Illinois, the other in South Dakota. The one in Rock Island is Division 3. Another great Augie runner was Ambo Bati.
beat me to it
Dan Mayer was the man! 28:48 for 10,000 on the track AT the DIII national meet on his home track! Plus a sub-14:00 5k earlier in the year and a sub 8:00 3k indoors! A year out of school he runs like 28:17 at Mt. SAC, but then turned his attention to the marathon and has not quite mastered it like everyone thought he would!
We used to love to hate those Augie Doggies down in Rock Vegas!!!
The North Central-Aygustana rivalry used to be a great one when both were good. It's too bad nobody in the CCIW seems to be able to step up and challenge NCC like Augie used to!
Sandu is one of the best. He was a 14 time all-american and is still running fast 8:31(steeple) he is 33 years old. I have trained with this guy and he is legit.
Dave Cooper of Mount Union
He won titles at 1500m, 5000m, & 10000m various years and seasons (indoor/outdoor). He also has the 7th fastest DIII 1500 ever w/ a 3:45
You have to include Dan Henderson in that list in light of his post-collegiate success...
Here are Dan Henderson's US rankings:
1983 Ranked 8th in the 5000m
1984 Ranked 9th in the 5000m
1985 Ranked 7th in the 5000m
1985 Ranked 10th in the 10000m
He ran 13:50 while in college and dropped his PR to ~13:30 after college. He also placed well in the US XC Champs - it was then known as TAC Nationals.
He still holds D3 National Meet record at 13:55
What about Mark Conover? Wasn't he D3?
DougC
Gwyn Coogan.
I consider myself reasonably knowledgeable, but I've never heard of most of these people.
