I'll watch.
Mistake! Should only run one marathon a year and track(See Ryan Hall)!
Wonder what her signing fee would be ?
the IAAF article is incorrect. Goucher is not the only American to win a medal at the 10000 meters. The Bronze medal in the 92 olympics went to Lynn Jennings (3 time world xc champion, 8 time US XC champion).
She is going down the same road as Alberto. I expect her to win in Boston and have a huge contract in New York. In 2010 there will be a bidding war with both Boston and London and the same thing with Chicago and New York. By 2011 we will start to see a tired Kara. She will struggle to make the Olympic Team in 2012 and then the injuries and medical problems will follow. In 20 years she will have serious health problems ranging from a liver condition to heart problems. All those folks that have a swoosh tatooed on their ass will believe that she was clean and just ran too hard duing her prime.
yawn

The article was referring to IAAF World Championships.

hold the phone is correct. Also, let's not forget our most recent bronze in the 10000 in Shalane Flanagan. However, as mentioned, Goucher is the only American medal in 10k at World Champs.
Another American goes over to the dark side. She's going to have a harder time qualifying for the World Champs in track (assuming she even wants to compete there anymore).
can you blame her?....with the prize money so much greater for major road races/marathons as opposed to running the 5k at the Penn Relays or the 10k at Mt Sac for $0 dollars?
Awesome!! Cant wait to see her next april.
Look....Boston is managing to bring in an American guy (Ryan) and gal (Kara) who are good media presences and actually have a shot at winning the thing, though I'm not going to predict they will. But they have a SHOT, okay? (her probably more than him, actually). 2012 is a long way off.
i hate to sound so cynical, but this is letsrun.
sounds like boston is going for the set up sucker race format - going for the big pub with a double american win on patriots' day - they will bring in some d list kenyans to race against hall and goucher. not that i am complaining about this at all. you heard it here first.
You think the 4 time winner is a D list Kenyan? He'll be there on race day and will win #5
Kara will be signing autographs at the Letsrun expo booth!

if that is the case why not release the entire elite fields for boston so we can talk about if the fields are set ups or not. the only other runner besides the 2 americans who set for boston is robert cheruiyiot, the 4 time winner who because of injuries has not raced since he won boston.
Robert is done. He pulled out of the Olympics and then pulled out of New York for a different reason. Then this week became a Muslim (why is that news). He has about as much of a chance as Meb at this point of his career.

I share the same sentiment, but not the part about the drug insinuations, which I believe are pretty baseless and petty. And I don't really blame Kara. She's 30 and capitalizing while the iron is hot. Hall, I question more. The guy just came off up running four hard marathons in something like 14 months, and now he is going to take the beating of the hills of Boston. I understand the whole all-American golden boy as a brand to rekindle interest in the American venue of distance running, but I am quite certain this will finish him off. He will not approach 2:06:17 again, even if he somehow manages something fast in Boston with a cold day and a strong tailwind. I don't really blame the guy, but I sure wish our top marathoners would focus on one marathon a year and then a season of track/cross.
