any ideas on how or where to purchase the running glove style frequently worn by the japanese marathon runner and others. appears to resemble a glove-liner or baseball batting glove style.

No idea, but anyone who pays more than a couple of bucks for a pair of running gloves is a SUCKER. Just go to Wal-Mart and get a pair of gardening/work gloves. They do the same job for A LOT less money.
actually they do not do the same job.
check out the Mizuno Breath Thermo gloves. They generate heat when they get wet.
I have seen that advertised and know people who have them, I have to cry foul. They are No warmer than anything else they have.
I have a pair of those $5 "magic" gloves...they work great, aren't too hot, and were cheap enough that if I lost them I'd be okay.
Have you tried the Asics or Mizuno websites? That's where I would start.
