i wish they had a pre-season ranking for indoors.
so i made one.
make your preseason picks then see how off you are in 3 months.
i did distance events only
there are a few guys that can run multiple events. i feel like these 4 will be top 5 in whatever event they chose. they are:
Andrew Bumbalough of georgetown. 2nd in the 3k last year and ranked 1st in the mile based on time. also 12th at NCAA XC so looking strong. has the speed and strength to run whatever distance he chooses, and whatever he does chose i pick him to be top 3 in.
David MCneil of NAU. 8th Indoor last year on an injured achilles. top 3k returner based on time. also top outdoor returning 5k (4th at NCAA's) can be top 5 in either the 3k or 5k. his choice. he has unreal closing speed, closing in a reported 53 or 54 at regionals last may.
Patrick Smyth of Notre Dame. 7 or 8 time all american now. consistently in every final. he will be there again and trying to improve on his multi 8th place finishes in the 5k outdoor or his 11th indoor 3k. he has the talent and will be top 5 in either event
Kyle Perry of BYU. 3rd in the indoor 3k lsat year. also ranked top 5 in the mile but chose to run the 3k. he has 149 800 speed and 10th at NCAA's in cross. he is on fire and will look to challenge for a title in either the 3k or mile. his DMR team could be an underdog if you put him and their 800 all american in it.
