Recently saw Chris Lukezic running near Boulder. I am aware his coach, Julie Henner, recently accepted the cross country job at the Air Force Academy. Has Lukezic relocated here himself? Not many elite 1500m runners train at altitude.

Yes he has or is in the process of moving to the Colorado Springs area.

Some Arab guy named Hicham trained in Ifrane at 1500m altitude. He was a 1500m runner. I think he was pretty good. Maybe not elite but definitely at least sub-elite. I know his PB

LOL, letsrun is like celebrity watching, just with runners. Anyway, I remember in the Flotrack interview from the Fifth Avenue Mile that Lukezic wants to do a stage of altitude training. Not sure if he's permanently relocated there, though.
Lukezic should move-up to the 5k.
Some dude named Lopez Lomong trained in Colorado Springs this year and made the Olympic team.
Don't forget that Lagat dude who officially lives in Tucson but trains part of the year in Flagstaff. Rumor has it that he's almost as good as that Hicham dude.
In my mind, though, Flagstaff is better set up for hi-lo for milers than Colorado Springs.
He will have access to the sports performance lab at the Olympic Training Center, so he can still do sea-level training on the treadmill with supplemental O2.
hi lo is not the end all be all. The OTC in Colorado Springs trumps Flagstaff. Flagstaff does have great trails when not covered in snow. January until May sucks badly in Flagstaff. I guess you can run on the NAU indoor track January through March. I would actually prefer Colorado Springs.
you guys need to read. i said "not many". not "none".
Dummy... you can't supplement with O2 on a treadmill to get an altitude break!
It's the pressure stupid! Not the O2 content of the air.
Lukezic talked about his Colorado training a couple weeks ago on his blog.
I hope you are joking? The thinner air actually gives sprinters an advantage at altitude. Yes it is the lack of o2 which is needed for distance runners at altitude
Actually it is the pressure. The lack of pressure allows oxygen molecules to be more spread out, therefore giving the perception of less oxygen in the air. So when a person breathes he gets less oxygen because it is so spread out.
I think it's more about the snatch that's there than the oxygen content or air pressure or hi-lo training prospects.
so, are lukezic and julie an item?
No they are not an item you idiot. Just because a female is coaching a male you shouldn't assume that they hooking up. Juli has coached Chris since his freshman year at Georgetown so it isn't like this is some strange move.
hey, i was just asking. if they were then good for them.
