starting yesterday i have had a sore throat, runny nose, and very tender and somewhat swollen glands. other than that im a bit tired, but dont feel all that sick. is it a bad idea to train through this?

You will gain no aerobic benefits by training through a cold. Sit.
Maybe not but you'll feel like a hard ass for training through anything. Just don't do any workouts.
The way I look at this is sometimes you will catch colds right before important races. You will have to race with that cold. Might as well get used to running when you don't feel 100%.
However, if the cold is bad enough to give me a fever, or if I am truly feeling like a vampire has drained all my blood, then I won't hesitate to speed up my recovery by skipping a day or two. But for the sniffles? Train through it.
And actually if it's sinus-related, I've found that running helps the whole system drain the goo.
A good recommendation I once read was if the symptoms were above your shoulders (stuffy nose, sore throat, swollen glands), feel free to go for a run, but if the symptoms are systemic (fever/chills, nausea, lack of hunger), the world won't end if you take time off. Bruce Denton, as we know, has a differing opinion.
