Even when i have races at 11 am, as all of my races have been this season, i still do a real easy 2 mile shakeout right when i wake up around 6:30. Loosens the legs and wakes you right up.
I usually do 2-3 miles, 2-3 strides and some dynamic stretchs (leg swings, but kicks, backward running)
my 'day before the meet' workouts would be: 6am easy, 6pm easy; but, if it was Conference, Regionals or Nationals: 4am easy, 3-4 pm easy; and a handful of strides/sprints for 50-60 meters.
read it wrong. the day of a meet. just warm up at the meet. but for the few late pm meets we had; I might just jog a couple of miles at most and a few strides.
