Any coaches out there want to share their policy/philosophy about line up change through (and especially late) in the cross country season.
My top 2 JV runners have just had significant breakthroughs in the last 2 meets. At our recent region meet, the top JV runner's time would place him 4th in the Varsity 7. The second would be 5th in the Varsity.
My attitude is that performance should determine the lineup, barring sickness, injury or one aberrant race.
The runners (and their parent(s)) on the bubble complain that they'er seniors or they worked really hard--all true--but its a competetive team and ultimately performance rules.
Any insight?
