My goal is to run a fast mile/1500m this winter/early spring. A while ago I got some really good advice on crafting a schedule from this board. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone is willing to give me some feedback on a week of my training. (I've been more or less sticking this this schedule for the last month and a half) I've been feeling strong, but I'm not sure if I should ramp up my miles or do more workouts or something like that. (I live and train at 5000')
Sample week/last week:
Sun. 11 miles total with a 5 mile uptempo @ 5:20 pace
Mon. 10 miles easyish (7:00 pace or so) + plyos and 4*100m strides [abs and pushups]
Tues. 18 miles easy to steady + 2 * 100m strides
Wed. 10 miles easy (7:00) [abs, pushups, and pullups]
Thur. 9 miles easy + 10 * 15 sec hill sprints w/ 1 min rest (10 total)
Fri. 10 miles easy + plyos, body-weight leg lifts, 2 * 100m strides
Sat. 12 miles total with 30 mins uptempo @ 5:20 pace + 2 * 200m @ 30 secs. [abs and pushups]
