Right now I'm a sophomore, and thinking about my base training during the winter. I did indoor track last year, but for various reasons-other obligations, and the fact that we did speed workouts most of the days in indoor last year- I don't think I'm doing it this year. I had a couple of questions about what to do during the winter to prepare for outdoor.
1. My coach advises two weeks off of running after xc. Is this necessary?
2. What's the best way to build up mileage? Small increases every week, or bigger increases every few weeks, or some other way?
3. I'm not very fast (18:32 xc pr), but I want to get faster. I got up to 46 miles/week during the past summer, how high should I am for during the winter?
