My goal for the winter is to average 60 miles per week for December, January, and February. Last year I had a similar goal but ended up getting injured as I tried to do a 3 hard/1 easy week approach.
This winter I'm thinking of doing 1 hard/1 easy (example: 70/50 or 65/55), or a 3 week rotation where it decreases every week (example: 70/60/50). What are the pros and cons of doing it this way? Which way will build more fitness, or more importantly, which way will keep me healthy?
If there is a better way to plan this I'm open to that as well.
