Still slowly coming back . . .
I hit 40 miles this week, and am reminded (again) that I really do respond to mileage. I know there are some very good female masters runners who do great off of 35-40 mpw, with an emphasis on quality over quantity. But I don't think that'll ever be me.
The payoff came in another low-key 5k (low-key 5k's being my specialty these days), which I ran over a minute faster than I was capable of a month ago. I felt comfortable the whole way (I'm not ready for pain yet, no way), enjoyed keeping pace with the hs xc girls, and ended up first grown-up female.
Let's hear from the rest of you. Any Twin Cities runners out there? Anybody do Brooksie Way here in Michigan? Any Chicago runners getting psyched for next week?
