I understand there is no one magical workout plan to get me where I need to be by December, and Im not looking for anything thoroughly detailed or specific, but any and all help is much appreciated. My situation:
Im a college runner, my Cross Country season has ended early. I am on my own for the next 2 months until I am able to try out and rejoin my team come December in time for Indoor/Outdoor track. I run 800m/1500m. Now, after a sudden stop in intense XC training I have been doing during the last 2 months and the base training I put in during the summer, I find myself having to wind back down and condition myself to be ready to compete in the 800m/1500m indoors during the winter, and outdoors during the spring. After the XC season ends some time in mid-November, that is normally when most of us take a 1-2 week rest before we get geared up for indoor track. I am thinking it would be best to take that rest at this point, while still doing some light running here and there for the next 10 days. After the break, I am uncertain exactly how to approach my training.
Most of my runs during these 2 months will just be normal runs, but I am unsure of how/when is the best time to throw in some tempo runs, strong runs, progression runs, hills, fartleks, speed work, or even intervals on the track at this point to get me in 800m shape. I dont want to kill myself during these next two months, I am looking to maintain my fitness. My conditioning and strength for distance is greater now than at any previous point in my life.
Any advice with my workouts/core training/weight training would help me alot at this point.
Thank You
