So I am in my mid-40s (age). I run about 60-70 miles a week. One tempo, one track session, one long run, the rest easy. Basic stuff for some of you but a decent training load compared to the local couch potatoes.
I've been working pretty hard at work and sometimes feel like I could use more sleep. Nothing too insane but maybe I need more rest than I did 10 years ago and don't know it.
I used to have a resting heartrate in the high 30s to low 40s when I was in 'shape' (for me). If it was high one morning that would indicate my workout would suffer and an easy day was best.
However now it's somewhat elevated every morning as of this summer. All of a sudden, it seems like my resting heartrate is consistently in the mid to high 50s. I could use more sleep so maybe I need to go to bed earlier.
I haven't really changed my routine or diet so I am wondering what people might think here. Should I just take a couple of weeks off? Does this seem like I might be overtraining? Is this a more serious issue? Could it be nutritional? Stress related? Or is there a simple solution and is starting me in the face?
