Mr Canova - What is the most important Period in training for sub 14 minute 5k?
For a collegiate male, looking to run sub 14 minutes for 5000 meters, with a full 7 months to do so. Previous bests 14:47 for 5000 meters.
Thanks so much.

that is a massive jump son. Good luck. I like that you are shooting for the stars. I wouldnt be disappointed if you run 14:15
I took a 14:49 college male down to 14:07 in 2 years. Half of the fight was convincing him to give up the 1500m as his primary event and embrace the 3000m/5000m. Of course I also took an athlete from his freshman pr of 15:10 to a sophomore 13:45 in one year, but he had been injured his freshman year and never got to run a good 5000m. He was also genetically wired to accomplish that feat. So it's possible, probability is another matter.
I'm not so much worried about whether or not people think I can make the jump; the question is about training.
BUMP!
You're a collegiate runner, right? Go ask your own damn coach, stop going behind his back.
If you have a chain, holding a fully loaded container, which link is the most important?
There is no correct answer when the question is wrong.
Look at it this way, 7 months from now you also need to run AT LEAST 8.08/3k and 3.52/1500m to have sub-14 ability.
