Here's the deal - my buddy is applying to the FBI. He's a recent college grad but prior to that was in the Marine Corps reserves for like 6 years. He did an uneventful few months in Iraq and by the time he left the Corps he was a sergeant.
Now he's applying to the FBI and his background has gotten him past the first few stages. But he'll need to run 14:59 for two miles as part of the fitness test in one month.
He was a sprinter on a our high school team (10 years ago) but now is probably 225 lbs of muscle (he's 5'10"). He hasn't run in about a year. He wants my help in getting him ready for this test since I'm a runner. We're going to do a time trial later this week to determine what kind of shape he's in now.
Any suggestions for training him? It will have to be a pretty basic routine, but I figure just about anything I give him will immediately lead to improvements.
