So it’s my last year competing in high school, and I was hoping to have a breakout season, and run under 16:45 at least. I was doing 80-100 during the summer pretty easily, but I think when workouts started I ran them far too hard, and started to over train a bit. I’m wondering, should I back off running completely for a few days, just take it easy for a while, or just keep training, albeit with workouts at the correct pace? I feel a bit like I’m breaking down in, as described in OAR, but should I just push through it like Denton says, or back off? And I don’t think I’m likely to get injured, I hardly ever do, and my body feels fine right now, and I’ve lowered the mileage compared to what I was doing before the season started.
