Last week i decided i would like to try and run a marathon that is coming up in a couple weeks. I've been running between 75-85 mpw since may, but havent done any runs longer than 16 miles, although i generally end up with at 2 or 3 runs of 12-15 miles each week. Should i even try this marathon or should i just sign up for the half instead and wait and run a full some other race when i could better prepare by making sure i extend some of my longer runs out to 20-22 miles.
I think i can finish but i know i will probably struggle in the last 10k+.
And, some PRs are 16:45 for 5k, 57:00 for 10 miles, 1:12:55 for 20k. Last race i ran was 4 miles in 22:10 but it was pretty hilly and i think i'm in pretty good fitness right now.
I would like to try for about 2:45 for the marathon (6:18 per mile) but is this a little fast considering my lack of longer runs?
