Looks like I'll be in the pool for the next few months. Any advice on what swimming goggles I should get?

I have some speedo competitions. They have a wide base that I find more comfortable than the narrower ones.
The TYR Racetech have worked well for me.
I second the Speedo Competitions. By far the best goggles I've ever had in terms of not leaking and comfort.
Anyone have a link to the Speedo Competitions? Not finding it anywhere..
Actually they're not called the "competitions", they are called "Speed Sockets"

Competitions is a series. The ones I have are the vanquisher. I just got them at Dick's Sporting Good.
You can try:
Get ones with clear lenses that keep the water out.
aquasphere kaiman goggles are the best for swimming laps, get the goggles not the mask, unless you are doing military missions
at $15 they are the best you can get
I can get you a nice pair of Arabian goggles.
Experiment and see what works for you. I've had expensive googles that have been crap (and ones that have been great) and cheap ones that have been great (and ones that have been crap.)
Try something that you think you'll like and if they don't work, try something else. At $10 to $25, it's not like you're investing in a bike or even a pair of shoes.

Well intentioned but not too useful.

Allow me to attempt to interpret the prophet:
Plunk down $15 and try something you think will work. And if it doesn't, try something else.
goggles are like running shoes, one person may love a particular model and another one will hate it. the key is how they fit around your eye socket. you have to try them up to your eyes without putting the strap on and if they immediatly fall off, you aren't getting a seal and they will leak. it's also possible that the space between the eyes won't be big enough or too big so they won't fit right.
clear is good if you are swimming in the dark or indoors but for outdoors, you want tinted lenses.
go somewhere with a big selection and try them. once you find a pair you like, buy alot of them because like running shoes, they will probably discontinue that model and you'll have to start the whole process over again.

... I would agree, if you're in an outdoor pool, but I found that I preferred clear for open water swimming especially if the water's murky. But as has been mentioned, it's an individual preference.
If you're both indoors and outdoors, might be worth getting a couple different kinds (since fortunately they're way less expensive than running shoes). Then you can alternate them to see which ones you like best.
For some reason, I keep going back to the Speedo Hydrospex which are pretty basic, but feel right on me.
Kaiman Aqua sphere are best. Spit in them then rinse in pool water, they won't fog. Comes in size small, med & large. I paid like $20
i got several pairs of swedish goggles (tested, proven in comptetions) for $3.95 each. they dry rot kind of quickly, but they're less than five bucks. i also nabbed a pair of nike goggles for $2.25. i'm just going to try them out, i figure if they're crap i've only wasted a couple bucks. cheaper than a pint of beer.

Agreed. I love the Speed Sockets and hate the Kaiman goggles. I had heard such great things about the Kaiman that I was surprised. I don't think there is anything wrong with them, they just were the wrong goggles for me.
I certainly think the Speed Sockets are one of the first ones you should try if you are trying multiple pairs. One of the nice thing about them over the Kaiman is that they have 3 different sized nose pieces included to allow you to adjust the width across the nose to better fit your face. But if the Kaiman ones fit you right from the start and you like them, that is not important.
The good news is you can usually open up the package in the store and try them on. There is usually no cellophane or anything like that. Press them to your eye sockets without putting the strap on and see which ones hold suction best.
Speedo Vanquisher or Swedish Goggles.
