That smell isn't coming from your shoes.
You should wash your private parts from time to time.
You're welcome.

I know that. But it would not help being arounded by you who need to get both your private and public area cleaned daily won't help - since you stinks all around so much.
I hate to be honest, but you forced me.
Wow. There is no comeback for that kind of logic.
Recover Gear rocks - now with anti-cold & floppy baby powder.
Stop storing your undergarments in them.

Unfortunately, it is a by product of running. But, there are solutions:
1. Buy new running shoes every 2 weeks and run big miles (150-200 mile/wk and that will give the shoe 3-400 miles of life, which is OK).
2. Wash it every 2 weeks, so to control it at bay - This will shorten the life of the shoe, but it is a solution.
3. Run less - Stop within 5 minutes when you see the first sign of sweating.
4. Move to North Canada, where you will not get warm weather all year around.
Wash them in the washing machine
machine wash them
"Put them outside"? God are you an idiot or do you live in some un-humid paradise? For most of the US right now, it would take weeks for shoes to dry outside, making them reek so badly they'd be borderline unwearable.
To the OP: Wait for them to get soaked--completely grossly drenched like after a long run in humid disgusting heat or rain. Take the insoles out and wrap the insoles with newspaper. Stuff your shoes as tightly as possible with a lot of newspaper. Also wrap the shoes with more newspaper.
Replace the now-saturated newspaper with new newspaper after about an hour or so including the newspaper around the insoles. Repeat that again. Then leave the shoes for over 6 hours stuffed with newspaper. Pull out the relatively dry newspaper.
Your shoes will now smell a little like newspaper which is to say they'll smell mostly like nothing. The bacteria whose mildewy crap caused your shoes to induce the vomit reflex will be dead or with the newspaper in the garbage.
My stinky shoes once cleared out an entire first floor of my apartment building. It got so bad the police where called. My shoes were confiscated and I was fined for being a public nuisance.
Foot ordor is a grave national problem.
Just wash them, and use a little bleach too. you can even let them soak in a mild bleach solution. It will do the trick. Then rinse them real good. The uppers and stitching will probably break down sooner, but they're running shoes, so you should be wearing them out pretty fast anyway.
embrace it. There will come a day when you will long to slip on a stinky pair of running shoes and slip out the door for a 10-mile run.
or
baking soda
or
start running big miles until you wear your shoes out. Then buy a new pair!
When I bleached my shoes a strange green gas arose from them. The gas made me pass out, and woke up a few hours later. This strange gas also killed all the coachroaches in my room. Their shells turned a crusty green and they became fossilized.
Wash them in the washing machine. If a shoe can hold up in the rain, it can certainly handle a few minutes in the wash. Use cold water. Remove the inserts. Tie the shoe strings. Wash them by themselves so if the shoestrings get untied, they won't wrap around anything. Don't put them in the dryer. Air dry. Then, reinsert the inserts.
I routinely wash my shoes in summer. I alternate shoes, but I probably wash them at least twice a week in summer. It really doesn't affect the wear that I can tell. I occasionally add white vinegar or use one of the anti-smell laundry detergents made for running gear.
A pre-soak after being sprayed with Shout makes most shoes look brand new on the upper.
Wearing socks with your shoes helps a lot.
I guess washing them with water is better than the green toxic gas that comes from bleaching.
