Having grown up in Dallas for the first 18 years of my life, I feel for you.
I'd like to know what most of you do for running in the summer. I basically never ran after 9 am or before 7 pm in the summer. Ever. People in the northeast don't understand it. They'll say it's hot even in DC and its nothing compared to Texas.
When I lived in DC I don't think there ever was a day when I didn't go run when I wanted to go run because of the weather.
I got an email from someone last week asking about moving to Houston and what it would be like for running. I told them it was a matter of coping with the heat. (I think Houston is way worse than Dallas) But it got me thinking about running in Texas. I would hate having to run first thing in the morning or late at night. I can't imagine running on a treadmill.
I guess I'd do what you all do and tough it out. Do any of you run more than like 30 minutes in the middle of the day? I think the heat explains why Texas is only the 7th most popular state in terms of letsrun.com audience. (Texas ranks #2 in population behind California and has twice the population of the 7th biggest state (Ohio))
