Brad Hudson recently gave me a GALLEY proof of his new book to review. I first saw Brad running in the 1984 Oregon High School x-c championships and he was a long way ahead of the next runner. My own son was 50th (approx) in that race. If left me impressed with his abilities.
I have read and studied many coaching methods over the years and I always come away with the feeling that I am being exposed to old ideas that are re-packaged in some new format.
I know Brad, so I am not trying to curry favor with him. I do feel that his new book adds new ideas to traditional training methods and has a lot of value. His thoughts on hill sprints and hill intervals help me better understand what Peter Coe and Percy Cerutty were talking about.
I think despite the views of some Letsrun regulars Brad will over the next 5-10 years become the premier distance coach in the U.S.
Good job Brad!
