I have been faithfully following Daniels 1500-3K plan for the past few months. I've gradually gotten my mileage up to 50mpw now which is the most I've ever done. My goal is to get to about 70mpw by next spring.
I'm able to complete all the workouts at the designated paces. The rest of the mileage I'm filling in with easy runs of various lengths on dirt. Long run is 8-11 miles.
My issue is that Daniels recommends cross training 3-4x/wk to prevent injury and increase strength. I don't have the energy to do this. So far I'm uninjured and doing ok in that dept.
I'd like to cross train but after the running is said and done I barely have the energy to do more than a five minute walk and two minute stretch.
Should I cut back on the running to cross train or just run and forget about it?
