I am an upcoming high school senior base training for the upcoming xc season (want to peak near mid-November). I've been running 50-60 mpw (which is significantly more than I've ever done) mostly at a pretty comfortable pace. I close some runs pretty hard sometimes (last 800 or mile near race pace) but haven't run race pace or faster in a while. This saturday, my team is holding a 5k time trial to see where everyone stands. Is it a good idea to be running time trials in the summer when you havent been running anywhere near race pace for more than 1 mile at a time?
