I would like some help and input and see how some runners on here perform strides as part of a pre-workout, and post-easy run. Pace ? Recovery jog vs walk? etc. Approx distance and total # performed.

I'll do between 4 and 8 100m strides before a workout - usually jog the curve and accelerate down the straightaway. They're fairly quick - 95% of top speed, maybe. I try to go as fast as I can while still being relaxed and in control. Accelerate up until maybe 40 meters, maintain it till 80, then slow down gradually.
I do strides until I feel loose and fast. After that, I'll do maybe one or two more and I'm done. Sometimes, I need 3 or 4 strides and I'm good to go for a workout; other times, I need to do twice as many. The point is to get your legs moving well, not to do X number of repeats.
check out www.jimspivey.com lots of strides, not all fast. search the LR message board for Jim Spivey and there is a ton of great information including much from his training logs.
Can we talk about how crazy hard this Olympic marathon course is?
